Flawed
Jasmine's confidence on the inside always took care of her "Flawed" outside!
YOU GO GIRL!
I find it so amazing how we as women and sometimes men, measure
ourselves by what we see in magazines and television.
Everyday products are shoved at us with a price tag and promise that it will make
us look better ,feel better and sometimes perform better. As a makeup
artist, I get people asking me to make them look like this star or
someone else. It's a whole lot of pressure honestly. Some of them look
nothing like the people they admire. I can use the same brand of makeup and
technique, but in the end you can only be you. Flawed or not
the only you, you will ever have is you! Don't let it get lost
in someone else's idea of beauty is. Sometimes the very thing
that we deem a flaw is the very thing that makes us unique and beautiful!
"I am fearfully and wonderfully made and my soul know it right well"
Psalms 139:13-14
Peace
I like the energy and colors. Can I link your blog to mine? I also collect vintage books and I love jazz.
ReplyDeleteoh i couldn't agree more, what a pity we judge ourselves by what we think others see us as, instead of ebing who we are inside.
ReplyDeleteHi Vanessa, hope this finds you well and a bit warmer. How right you are in this posting. Not being a very 'fashionable' person I do not look at fashion magazines but got a free one with my fave mag 'Country Living' and it was full of impossibly skinny really tall models, there was not one woman in that mag that you might have seen walking down the street. They keep saying woman are getting bigger and yet we are bombarded with images that 99% of us could never achieve and made to feel failures and freeks if we dont look like sticks! Rant for the day!!! I am lucky that I have a husband who likes curvy women with big boobs! And he says most men are the same. Loving your work as usuall much love Jane xxx
ReplyDeleteVery nice green lady! I couldn't agree with you more...I sell Avon, and people are constantly asking me if products "work" when what they really mean, is will I look like a supermodel if I use this item.
ReplyDeleteIt´s a great text with a nice illustration. I just know wath is "plasticienne", he, he.
ReplyDeletethis is one of the beautiful blogs i would like to come back visiting again and again.
ReplyDeleteLovely illo!! she is very beautiful with her energies outshining the flaws!!
She is so confident! great illustration and texts. i also like the verse in the bible, perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love your post. It makes a great statement. There's way too much pressure to look a certain way, and women have to be incredibly confident to accept the way they look no matter the flaws. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love your illustration AND the message. Kudos! Love your work. And thanks for your comment on mine:) truly appreciated:):)
ReplyDeleteGreat and so lovely illustration Vanessa!!you know? at the first look she reminds me the lovely cute monster in "Igor"!! have you watched the movie? anyway, its awesome! =)
ReplyDeleteI love that verse from Psalms. Thanks for putting that wonderful reminder out there.

Aaah, wise words indeed, Vanessa. And another wonderful illustration which, as always, speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteAwesome awesome awesome, the illo and the whole sentiment! These are truly words to live by, I want to print this out and hang it up on my mirror.
ReplyDeleteI did not know you were a make up artist, you woman of many talents you...I wish I were closer so you could do mine just for fun (and no worries, I won't ask you to make me look like Nicole Kidman LOL). Since I am a redhead, would it be hard? During the only makeover I ever had, the girl gave me dark brown eyebrows and I looked like a man LOL!!
She is charming, GREAT illustration. I really enjoy see what you are working on each week.
ReplyDeleteyes!! is true!! ... and so funny too!;)
ReplyDeleteReally love this :)
ReplyDeleteVery fun and words of wisdom as always!
ReplyDeleteOf course she may want to see her doctor since green skin is often a sign of severe organ failure :).
You can get an Amen, on that! Great illustration and view! Now, that's what I'm talkin' bout!
ReplyDeleteHi my friend from over the sea, if you pop over to my blog you can pick up the award I have given you and also I have tagged you too! Love Jane xxx
ReplyDeleteI need to give this lady a big lovin' squeeze! You know what I think makes people attractive? Self confidence (without arrogance). The way they carry themselves. Now THAT's sexy!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking over your blog and you are so talented. I just can't imagine having artistic talent like that.
ReplyDeleteYou are wonderfully made indeed my friend... and so very multi-talented!

Well she found just the pink to perfectly complement her complexion! Lovely illustration, thoughtful and full of humor as always.
ReplyDeleteOoh la la! I think you got her good side...both of them.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful! I would be a basket case if I was so worried about how I looked on the outside. If you are beautiful on the inside it can not help but shine through. Although I do wish my uniquely beautiful bum was a bit smaller (insert smile here).
ReplyDeletehey, i think shes nice!

Hello Vanessa
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for writing me.Someone like you saying you like my work boosts my confidence to another level.I love your work it reminds me of the style of the works i've seen in 101 damlmations and old tom and jerry reruns.I don't always see people of color n the style that you work in and it's so cool to see.I would love to own pieces of your work if you should sell in the future.
Yeah, we need to alert and not to be carried away merely by some influnces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa for your insightful sharing and beautiful illustration!!!
Peace be with you always:)
