What's On My Desk or What are you Drumming Up???


Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to give you all a peek of what's on my desk right now.
I've been working on a second book that I've had the pleasure of
illustrating called "Drum City". I wasn't able to show, just yet, the
finish pieces. This was the first cover that I worked up. It has been
redone a few times now. He he he hee hee! I don't always get it
dead on. Sometimes it take 50/and 11 tries to get it right!
I will keep you all posted and show what I can when I can.
All in all, I'm enjoying the whole process. Even when I get
a little frustrated and stressed I get the joy of doing what I love.

Oh and please, please, please don't get offended if I don't
response to your comments right away. I'm going back under
my rock to finish up some more wonderful stuff. Mama says,
I can't come out to play till my desk is clean, but every once
in a while I'll come to the window and you throw your pebbles
it's our little secret yall! hee he hee hee

    Really delightful stuff. Your illustrations exude fun, and I love that about your work. I hope to have more sketches up on my own blog soon. Keep your fingers crossed.

    This is MARVELOUS! Even if it didn't make the final cut, it's a masterpiece! I notice that most of your works have a central focal point...like this one, with the taxi and the bus and the lead drummer all lined up. I have never taken a class in illustration, and I'm curious - is that a common recommendation for covers? I'm noticing lately that many cover pieces do that - use a central focal point. Interestingly, I think most fine art pieces in the galleries and exhibitions tend to keep the focal points off center. I don't remember why, but that's what I was always taught too.

I'm just wishing I was busy doing what you're doing, instead of the day gig that pays the bills! I'm just simpering with envy...lol!     Hey sweetie, Gurl I know you have much going on and much love for tomorrow. Your neice leaves Sunday so we're BBQing until 10pm tomorrow if you get a minute, everybody has schedule but wants to stop in, I'm fine with it all.
