OOOOOOOOOhhhh Nessa!! You leave your distictively brilliant mark on everything you do. This is so wonderful. I have to see the movie!! Have you checked out this?: http://www.terribleyelloweyes.com/ It's already passed, but what an amazing exhibit. I saw this on Cally's blog (http://callyjanestudio.blogspot.com/)....thanks so much Cally! Check it out when you have time. Hugs to you, Vanessa!
I love the book too which is why I went to see the movie. The movie was sad, but I thought, this is the boys imagination when he's upset. There's a monster who is shy, one who is fun, one who is mean, and one who stomps his feet. Anyway, I thought it was brilliant. Awesome illustration too.
What sweet wild things. The Jewish Contemporary Musuem in San Francisco has an exhibit of Sendak's work right now--I took the kids to see it. However the website has some neat stuff on it and I wanted to pass that along to you.
Whenever you have time (which I know you don't)..that site is awesome...and I know you'd love to see it...but it'll be there when you can kick up your heels and grab a warm cuppa joe, or a cold iced tea and relax. (Does that ever happen for me? Naaaa...) but hopefully you will get to at some point! Always wonderful to hear from you - I will keep you posted, too. Can't believe it's already WEDNESDAY! Gotta get to work! Hugs to you, my dear friend.
AAAHHHH! I'm just WILD about this one!!! I love that book, and the look on her face is SO VANESSA! It's absolutely perfect. You know, I made a Max costume for my daughter last year for her school in Tokyo, and the sad thing was, most of her friends (it was an international school) had no idea who Max was. I said, "WHUH??? It's a CLASSIC!"
Vanessa, today is the day!!! I´ve just receipt your WONDERFUL pack. I´ve just skimmmed through your fabulous book and I feel like going home to read it and enjoy it! It´s gorgeous! It goes without sayng that your grasshopper is a top one! I saw it in your blog. Vanessa, you´re a great artist, and even better, a charming person.
So great! Your style and characters with a nod to the original muted pastels and scratchy lines. Plus, a cupcake! And I'm with you on the movie: beautiful, primal, and sad...
aweeeee i love this book so much!!!! haven't seen the movie though, but i shall! the characters in ur drawings are super awesome and max and the gang are awfully cute! yumm he sure is making me hungry with that cupcake :D
I'm glad you liked the link. I'm amazed at how you are able to keep up with your blog, and comments with all the other work that you do. You are inspiring!
I agree with you about the film, see,s childhood should allow for a bit of escapism before grim reality sets in. Congratulations on the book, which Tomas has highlighted on his blog.
Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy life to leave a comment. Please feel free to leave something funny, constructive or encouraging. Thanks again.
