A Nice Christmas Present (Corel Draw 11)

Hello Folks,
My beautiful, kind husband Ray is always wanting to by me something that I really don't want
for Christmas. Yeah I said ! What??
While I appreciate the very kind very kind jester, it can be rather frustrating to me.
Each year I try to help the brother out by telling him,
" Just get me a gift certificate and call it a day!" He sometimes, as Bug Bunny would say, " He just don't git it!" This year I'm gonna have to ambush the brother and do my own shopping. You know people, kinda direct him where he should go. So this is for all you wonderful people who have artist in your life and don't have a clue as to what to give 'em!!
1. Give them a gift certificate to their favorite art store. Like PearlPaint, or Jerry's Artist Supply, or Dick Blick! Yeah that's the ticket!!!
2. Corel as wonderful software for the artist in your life. I actually did this picture with Corel
Painter 11! And no, I ain't bein' paid by the company for this! If it's someone who is into animation purchase this wonderful animation software from Fablevisionlearning.com by artist
Peter H Reynolds. Very inexpensive and Fun! Great for the young artist.
3. Give them as a blank artist journal with some colorful pens. They will love you for it
I promise! So Ra.... I mean people save yourself the headache and try some of these things out
he he he!!
Happy Holidays

Yeah that works for me too. I just did a post a couple ago on the very subject. Can't win em all. Merry Christmas and rest of the holiday season. Take care.

Haha...I think a lot of folks insist on getting some "thing" because they don't want to seem as if they didn't care to search for a gift and opted for the easy gift certificate. Although, I think it's totally okay because it's better than getting something hideous...ahah! Personally I have a thing for edible gifts...yum!

I gave a long list of different ideas to my spouse & son, mainly arty stuff, books or even a gift voucher, but they think my list is boring & can't I think of anything interesting!

Nessa- you're too funny. I tried to make things easier for my hubby too. I put everything that I wanted into my Amazon 'to buy' cart, and gave him access to it and everything. It had like 25 things in there he could pick and choose from.

And you know what the man did? He went to my 'to buy later' cart and chose from there. Which has like 300 things, that he spent most of the night sifting through, picking what he thought I'd like.

I seriously think husbands just need us to buy the gifts ourselves, and put their name on the card.

Love you!

Sometimes you gotta KNOCK your men over the head! Hahahaha. I say gift cards are like two gifts in one -- material goods AND retail therapy. Don't get much better than that.

Corel Draw? Ooh, your secret's out of the bag! This is fantastic! He'd better have stacks and stacks of giftcards in those boxes. heeheehee

Hahahahah! You are very funny, calling your husband "the brother" Well my Viking, he tries his best and I tell you, the only thing he gave me that was right on the mark was a diamond band ring to replace my stolen engagement ring. We decided not to give each other anything because I really prefer not to receive anything over getting something i don't like so the wise Viking always has a chocolate box ready for me in case everyone else thought I prefer no presents. He also gives me ornaments which I love and something very cute. Someone gave me a disc with 100000 recipes, yeah like I am going to cook forever; a chia pet; a chicken that you can squeeze and eggs will come out of it; very bright sweaters, etc. i do not want to sound ungrateful but I give away most of my Christmas presents except the ones the children give me - they are wise, they give me pajamas. I love pajamas. I buy new pajamas every month or so. When I was 24 and lived in NJ, people wanted to know what I wanted for Christmas. I did not want any so I told them Chivas Regal knowing I don't drink. That year I received 32 gallons of Chivas Regal, in bottles of different sizes!I could not believe my eyes!!!

Hahaha, great post. I'm always a fan of gift cards, it minimalizes the physical stuff that pack-rat artists just cant fit.

You said it Miss V!! I hope that Ray ... er, I mean random people out in cyberspace picked up on this list of ideas and you had a super wonderful Christmas (and if you did end up with a pair of tubesocks and a bowling ball instead, I'm sure you will find some way to turn them into something artistic and cool! ... sock puppets, and garden decoration???)

My friend and I were recently discussing about how involved with technology our daily lives have become. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory decreases, the possibility of copying our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about all the time.
