Magic Trash

Hello Blogger friends,
I just wanted to show you what I've been up too.
Have you ever heard of the Heidleberg Project??
It is the out of the box and off the wall art of artist Tryee Guyton
of Detroit, Michigan. Tyree takes trash and makes art i.e.
"Magic Trash". The book is written by J.H. Shapiro
a talented writer of children's books.
The book is published by Charlesbridge Publishing and
due out in Sept of 2011. I had the joy and pleasure of doing the illustrations for
the book. It was the hardest work I ever loved. I usually work digitally.
I had been wanting to do a more traditional style children's book.
This book is done in my collage and mixed media style and
I can't wait to do more like this one.
There is nothing like playing with found objects and paint and glue.
I felt like a mad scientist and I loved it. It took me a while to get started.
Someone told me that, "You have to love it V!" and he was right. Once I stopped
worrying about the process and got into it, it all just came together.
Live art. Touching the media and and mixing the colors was so wonderful.
I am so excited and happy about this project and I hope that you get to
see it soon. Okay, back to packing.
Have a great week Y'all

How cool is that????
Wow, I love that magic trash. This is so awesome and your collages are perfect to present this.
I don´t know nothing about digital art and so I can´t imagine how you usually make your fabolous illustrations, but I can imagine you cutting out pieces, searching for sunken treasures in the dustbin and ruin your clothes with glue. Well at least this is what I would do, hi hi hi.
Have a great day
big big hug

Oh, Vanessa! You've totally outdone yourself. How alive. How vibrant. I am amazed at how closely you captured the essence of his art. You are so brave to work with the 'raw materials' of our trade. Had it been me I would still be staring at blank illustration board. I also can't get over how MUCH it looks like your digital art in tone and texture. A testament to your talent in the digital realm.

OH! HOT DANG! This book is Magic, all right! Wow, what a fantastically wild house. And your illustrations capture all the whimsy and fun and LOVE for funky odds and ends. Ooooh, the patterned paper and buttons! Makes me want to rampage around the house, tearing things apart just so I have new art material. Looks like it was a LOT of hard work, but also extremely rewarding and a lot of joy.

When you pack me away, please remember to poke a few airholes in the box, 'kay?

Love you, my sweet!!!

I'm so amazed by people who can work in collage. I was never very successful at it myself but I SO enjoy looking at works created in this medium.
