Hello Family and Friends,
Hope that you all are enjoying all this hot, hot weather.
Back in Feb of this year I was asked to illustrate a puzzle
for
American Girl Magazineand I have to tell you that I LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT!!!
I just love being a girl and illustrating for girls. Not that I don't enjoy
illustrating things for boys, but I just get to work with hair and clothes
and all! Run out and get yourself a copy. Happy 4th of July everyone!
Be safe!

Great editorial illos!! I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!
So summery and cheerful! What a gift to have a job you both love and excel at. And, Vanessa, how awesome is it that you got to illustrate a girl magazine personality quiz?!
Fabulous work, V! My tweener is not into American Girls (total tomboy) but she loved these images of yours. Said you didn't make the girls too girly. You certainly do an awesome job of capturing the spirit of the modern American girl. Happy 5th! Hope the 4th was joyful.
fantastic work, V! Your work is perfect for this!
Your art is so fun and summery - it is perfect for AG. :) And I did time with those dolls when my daughter was little. It was so fun (and expensive). LOL! Beautiful job, V! xox Pam
Wonderful! Just love all the bright colors and cute outfits on "your girls".
Great examples of summer fun and perfect for the magazine target audience.

EEEEPPP! Vanessa, do you know that you are Rock-star illustrator numero Uno over here?! My daughter's love, love, love American Girl and I now get to say that I know the amazing person who illustrated this! : ) I can't wait to get ours in the mail..you are so darned amazing, you know that?! I always love hearing from you - hope all is great in your world and that things are settling down for you. Moves are so challenging but I know Zoe is probably thriving, right? I am doing well - things are busy here for summer, but we are loving it. Lots of pool-swim time, which the girls love. Big hugs to you Nester! I miss you! xoxo

Great job Vanessa, and I mean this most sinceerely!
Your AG illustrations make it look so fun, I could spend all summer away at camp- Do they have these for big girls, too? :o)
Phenomenal! You are a one woman wonder!
Oh where, oh where has my girl gone, oh where, oh where can she be? She has gone and worked her self to death, and we're all so proud of her!!! You have to love a the queen of go-getters, but as a lady-in-waiting of her royal highness, can a girl get some love?! :) :) lol! Congrats dear one!!
Hi V, I just got back from a visit to the US (where, as you say, you are having a lovely hot summer) and I had a chance to go to the library in Telluride, so I looked for your books. The librarians said they didn't list books by the illustrator's name and did I know the author/s. I only knew the author's name for the one you wrote, which they didn't have! That was disappointing, but I did get to see a lot of other lovely American picture books, which are quite different from ours, and get a suntan too.
AMAZING V! These look perfect! And I love how spirited everything you do looks :)
Wow! V this is so cool! love them all but the bottom one with the forest background is my very favorite! I just love it, can't take my eyes off of it :D
You rock girl!!! and it must have been so awesome to illustrate a puzzle! when you get your copies, please take some shots and post them here! I always love the thrill I get whenever I receive a copy of a magazine, book or something in print. love the smell, love to old it in my hands and feel the texture, love how it is brand new and shiny... it's awesome! you must be very proud and you most definitely should. You are AWESOMEEEE
Hey! So nice to stop by again. I have been practicing an unplugged summer, so I haven't been checking in with my fav. blogs regularly. What a fabulous project!! Your illustrations rock! Congrats!
:)
These are absolutely awesome. YOU are a genius!
These are gorgeous Vanessa! I love the way you handled all that wonderful greenery.
I hope your settling into your new place nicely. I'm so proud to have a piece of my little ol' art hanging in your new digs-it's a real honor! Things are slowing down a bit so hopefully my postings and visits will be a bit more frequent...and that soul train line is looking a little empty without us!!
