Chocolate! Why hasn't anyone mentioned chocolate? That has been my life-long comfort food. Just the chocolate--not in a recipe. Plain, dark chocolate. Yum....

oooh im pregnant so food is constantly on my mind at the moment haha!! what a great contest! My favourite comfort food would have to be a chunky veggie soup in the middle of a cold stormy day!! The first food that came to mind was chocolate but I don't think of that as a comfort food anymore but more of a necessity!!! :) Great to stop by your blog again it always makes me smile!!
Vanessa! I absolutely love your work and especially love your red rice recipe in the TDAC book! Bravo!
Love the chef girl!
Oh... and homemade corny dogs without the stick
This may sound crazy to some but my comfort foods are grits with over easy eggs mixed in so the yolks turn them yellow with a little salt and pepper or a big bowl of oatmeal with hot buttered toast mmmmm heaven:-) Congratulations for being featured good job.
Oh goodness. A book about food with your illustrations? How heavenly!! My favorite comfort food probably would be mashed potatoes or any form of potatoey goodness.
Anyway, you = amazing as usual.
Hey Vanessa - loved your illo for this book and as always you are such an inspiration. My favorite comfort food most of the time? Definitely potato-based, ie. fried, mashed, hashed, or poutined (yum!)
HOWEVER...at this time of year, I have to say that TDAC for me stands for: This Diva Adores Cookies! You know what I'm talking about: holiday-homemade-been-in-the-family-forever recipes, melt in your mouth goodness (no calorie counting allowed) and "why didn't I make more!" cookies....my alltime fave: "thimble" cookies (aka Santa's Thumbprints) You can find my recipe here, enjoy!

Oh, I am ALL about comfort food. The problem I am having is picking just one. I'll pick the one that popped into my head first: mashed potatoes. lol! SOOOO dietetic. LOVE the book and adore the print! I am going to keep my tater-covered fingers crossed! xox Pam
So, the purty artist can cook, too? Nessa, you can do everything!!! Good Lord, I'm sitting on the floor, crying because you gots all the blessings from above! LOL!!
Hmmm...I'd have to say I love fish and grits or shrimp and grits! But, I'm an island girl, too, so beans and yellow rice, too! :)
Okay, back to ravaging the fridge now! Can you pay for me to join Jenny Craig, too?! :)
The book looks enticing !
My favorite dish is a roast chicken with potatoes around, all cooked together in the oven. Not exactly diet food, but so delicious!
I love a grilled cheese sandwich, with the toast thick and buttery and the cheese, sharp and tangy. Now cut it in half and dip that in some thick tomato basil soup, and as you take a bite, a tiny bit of the soup and cheese drip lusciously down your chin. Yum!!!
Hungry yet?
Ohhh a COLD Ring ding! hee hee chocolate goodness with cream! and a BIG Mountain size Cup of Joe! Yum!
Okay that is it! oh and maybe about 1000 cookies. Always have room for Oreos and Big glass of milk to dunk it into. AH!!!!
Yay me I'll just slap it all on my thighs. hee hee. Well you asked! :D Congrats to you! you are a beautiful person and it shows in all you do! Great idea for your site. Best of luck always! :D
Meatloaf! Tastes even better when mom makes it!
Love that chef!! To name a tiny fraction of my favorite comfort foods: banana fritters, falafel sandwiches, shepherd's pie, just about any Ethiopian dish, grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup, all things potato, Szechuan orange chicken... And I'll have all of your illustrations for dessert. :)
Love your chef girl, Vanessa! My fave comfort food is homemade vanilla ice cream, Rice a Roni weird, huh?) Pecan cluster Blizzard, chicken pot pie, and fried corn (the way my Mamaw used to make it)!
My comfort food is Odd but it is Tuna Casserole and Blueberry muffins. Can't explain why but I can't eat one without the other.
it is absolutely my mum's chicken soup. Oh yes, it just makes everything allright! It was a miracle when I cooked it first for myself :)
Thanks for sharing your lovely work via this blog! It's cold & rainy here today, so the comfort food that leaps to mind is matzah ball soup!

My favorite comfort food: croquetas. Maybe you don't know about it, but is an easy dish: boiled egg in pieces into béchamel sauce, rolled in egg and breadcrumbs... Hmmmmmmm
A big hug, Vanessa.
I have so many! My grandma's Spanish Goulash (made with Mac & Cheese), Cornbread, Gooseberry Pie, Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes, Homemade Bread and Jam, and those Corndogs covered with Mustard that you get at the fair! I'm getting so hungry just thinking about all my favorites. I'd better stop now!
I would love to be included in your first ever contest:) My favourite comfort food of all time is egg mayonnaise sandwiches, maybe with some chips on the side (the name we Brits use for fries)!
Hello again:) Thanks for dropping by my blog - I hope you enjoy the egg sandwiches when you try them. They're really good with lots of black pepper in the mayonnaise!
I love checking out your site. Your illustrations inspire me. And I have to throw my hand into your random drawing, because that book looks really fun. One of my favorites...toasted everything bagels.
Wah!!! I missed out! What a snazzy chef!
