Chyna's Very Special Gift

Hello Everyone,
Here is the finished illustration of my character that I have been plugging away at.
I have decided her name would be Chyna. Chyna has this wonderful pen pal
who lives in Hong Kong and she wants to purchase a gift to send her.
Next week I will be working on her pen pal. I haven't come up with a
good name as of yet. If you have one let me know.
Have great day Everyone!

Bonjour Vanessa! Chyna is adorable, love her sweet face and her green boots! How about Tsu Lin? It is the name of a friend's daughter, adopted in China but who turned out to be more Korean ... Have a great day! LuLu

Just delightful Vanessa!! I'm impressed at how prolific you are through thick and thin times. I'm more snail-like in nature.

...can't wait to see Chyna's friend!

Yan (best friend in primary school)?

I love the way Chyna looks thoughtful, but pleasantly so - not stressed!

chyna's very "pixie-looking" hehehe. i figure she has a quirky, cheerful caharacter.

would her best friend be male or female? can't wait to see him/her.

love this illustration, particularly how chyna is such a bold presence in the foreground and the city is simpler lines in the back! this is my first visit to your blog and i'm so enjoying it.

I suggest you "Kinchi". For my daughter Paula kinchi just means something like pal...

Hi Vanessa,

Your illustrations are beautiful. I am the owner of Hot Peas and Butter Gifts in East Orange and I am looking for some illustrations for a future project. I am also hosting a Christmas Gift Fair in Orange and if you are free would love for you to stop by. We will have free crafts for kids. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by. God bless.

Sincerely,

Hong kong! I was born in Hong kong!

I love how your characters are always so stylishly dressed :-)

Ohh and I can't believe you took Cheryl's class at SVA too! Very cool! Alot of people say great things about her. I actually took a small workshop with her before...and knew she was a great teacher.

Have a great holiday and all the best to you in 2009!
